The Bezalel-Shekel Project

The "Establishing Contact – A Dialog through Art" project was based on the concept that art can be used to establish a unique connection and partnership between artists with special needs and "normal" artists.
The project conceives art as a visual language that transcends the boundaries of conventional links and relationships between people and enables them to bond and create together as part of a cooperative alliance between creative artists. The program was carried out through the special connection established between the Bezalel Academy and the Shekel (Community Services for the Disabled) Society.
The uniqueness of this program stems from the fact that it had not been defined as a coaching/mentoring project, but rather as a program that adopts the principle of equality between creative artists, regardless of their daily functional background. This year, 7 artists from the Shekel Society, along with 7 students from Bezalel's various departments, have been chosen to participate in the program.
