THE BELONGING OF ARCHITECTURE TO ART IS OFTEN QUESTIONED. THE REASON IS THAT ARCHITECTURE SUPPOSE TO SERVE LIFE. IN THE SEMINAR WE WILL EXAMINE THE INHERENT CONFLICT BETWEEN ART AND LIFE AS MANIFESTED IN ARCHITECTURE. WE WILL ASK WHETHER ARCHITECTURE IS MORE ART TO MORE LIFE OF PERHAPS THE TENSION BETWEEN THESE TO REALMS IS WHAT CONSTITUTE IT'S NATURE. DOES ARCHITECTURE AS ART CONTRADICT ARCHITECTURE AS LIFE OR COMPLIMENT IT. WE WILL SEE WHAT SORT OF ARCHITECTURE REJECT ART AND WHAT SORT REJECT LIFE. THE SEMINAR WILL BE ACCOMPANIED WITH TEXTS AND MOVIES DEALING WITH THE PHILOSOPHY, PSYCHOLOGY, SOCIOLOGY OF LIFE ART AND ARCHITECTURE.
