Course: Civic Architecture Unit Lecturers: Arch. Liat Brix Etgar, Arch. Ytav Bousira, Arch. Merav BatatThe Unit for Civic Architecture examines the relationship between architectural design processes and political action, and explores the ways that politics inform architectural practice. The design process is based on researching local social and economic issues, mapping the needs of the community, identifying local potential, creating of new urban programs and architectural infrastructure for future development. We stress an interdisciplinary planning approach that combines local and professional knowledge. Projects are at the scale of the neighborhood, the most effective socio-spatial unit for bringing about social change that permits radical, citizen-initiated planning and economic action.
