Days of study at Bezalel during the 2007 – 2008 academic year will be as follows:

Sunday: Bezalel – Tel Aviv Studio; and Wednesday: Bezalel Campus, Jerusalem – studies will take place in the Department of History and Theory.
In addition, there will be special events, for example: seminars given by visiting lecturers, visits and meetings at exhibitions, participation in special study days and lectures, and more.

The Program's Total of Academic Study Hours:

60 credits: 48 credits in practical studies + 12 credits in theoretical studies – over a two year period.

Final Project

The final project is made up of two components:

  • A final exhibition – towards the end of the second year of study each participant will present a final exhibition. A assessment board composed of international artists and critics analyzes and evaluates these projects.
  • A written paper or a final exam

Extending the Duration of Study

The duration of study at Bezalel is for two consecutive years.
Following individual consultation and with the proper authorization, a student may extend the duration of theoretical studies only. A student who is interested in extending the duration of his/ her studies must submit a written request to the teaching committee for receipt of approval.

Conditions of passing from year to year

Passing from the First Year to the Second Year is conditioned on the successful fulfillment of all of one's course requirements (achievement of a grade average of 70 or above in all courses). At the end of the First Year of study, each student will present an exhibition/ solo presentation. A passing grade for this exhibition and for studio lessons constitutes as a condition of passing on to the second year of study.
A student is obligated to complete his commitments in courses of completion (prerequisites) during the first year of his/ her studies; this is one of the conditions for passing on to the second year of study.

Student Exchange

The Bezalel Academy encourages collaborations with international institutes and art academies and enables excelling students to participate in student exchange programs. In this framework the program enables students to study one semester (the first semester of the second year) in a parallel art school overseas. Currently, the program has an established exchange program with the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland and the Aarhus Art Academy in Denmark. Student exchange programs with other schools are being developed. Details on additional schools will be provided during the course of the academic year.

Grants and scholarships

The program aspires to bestow awards of excellence, grants and scholarships. Distribution of scholarships is based upon the availability of funds and donations on behalf of the MFA program. Further details will be provided during the course of the academic year in accordance with the receipt of donations.
