The first semester surveys the development of Aesthetics and critical theory from clasical Greece (Plato and Aristotle) to the end of the 18th century and the present.The second semester will discuss contemporary trends (like formalism, structuralism, new criticism, phenomenology, deconstruction etc.) and the theoretical issues related to interpretation (and evaluation) of works of Art.
