Brand Roy, Dr.

Dr. Roy Brand -- lecturer of Philosophy at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem -- founded and directed Yaffo 23, Center for Contemporary Art and Culture in Jerusalem. Taught at Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Sarah Lawrence College and Vassar College, New York. Specialises in Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, Trauma and Popular Culture, Curatorial Practices and Aesthetics. Among his publications, as editor and contributor: Philosophy in a Time of Terror: Dialogues with Habermas and Derrida (Hakibbutz HaMeuchad, 2004 [Hebrew]); Bare Life: Contemporary Art Reflecting on the State of Emergency, Museum on the Seam, Jerusalem, 2007); The Urburb: Patterns of Contemporary Living (Sternthal Books, 2014); and as author: LoveKnowledge: The Life of Philosophy from Socrates to Derrida (Columbia University Press, New York, 2012). Curated numerous international exhibitions and is part of the curatorial team of the Israeli Pavilion in the Venice Biennale for Architecute, 2014.
