Fanzines Exhibition: Self-Published Urban Papers | Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem

Fanzines Exhibition: Self-Published Urban Papers

Date:
24.4.24

The department of Visual Communication at Bezalel is hosted at Liebling Haus and glad to invite to an exhibition showing students' project from the last 10 years at "Fanzines" course.

“Creativity is the power to reject the past, to change the status quo, and to seek new potential. Simply put, aside from using one’s imagination, and perhaps more importantly, creativity is the power to act.”
(Ai Weiwei)

We live in a constant conflict of disinformation, and misinformation, which provides ample opportunities to act as agents of change. In times of unprecedented local and global crises, the world of design and visual communication can and must act as an agent of social change.

The exhibition Fanzines: Self-Published Urban Papers presents projects created by the Visual Communication Department students at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. Led by Prof. Anat Katsir, the Fanzine course challenges students to use visual communication as a tool for civic action. The projects range from the thought-provoking through the personal to the amusing – and present the students' viewpoints as they cast a critical gaze on the world in which they live and to which they seek to introduce change.
