City After Dark: Illuminating the Urban Nightscape: International Conference

The Bezalel Graduate Program in Urban Design invites you to an international conference on the diverse aspects of urban lighting, from the perspectives of design, planning, sociology and ecology of nocturnal lighting in urban spaces. The conference is a part of the 2015 International Light Festival in the Old City of Jerusalem, organized by the Jerusalem Municipality and the Jerusalem Development Corporation, and managed and produced by the Ariel City Company.

City After Dark: Illuminating the Urban Nightscape is a UNESCO 2015 International Year of the Light Event with contributions from Configuring Light / Staging the Social  (based at London School of Economics) and will be hosting an international group of leading designers, architects, anthropologists and sociologists, researchers, and government representatives, from Israel and abroad.Guests include international experts in urban lighting design, social scientists who are developing research methods for community-oriented and participatory lighting design, and leading management and research professionals informing the global LED revolution. The conference will debate the development and implementation of various lighting design methods in Israel cities, and will discuss the impact of lighting on the social fabric of the urban nightlife in the context of Israel's climate.
