The Master of Fine Arts at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem is a studio program for young artists who want to immerse themselves in the international discourse that characterizes the field of contemporary art. Because it is a studio program, it emphasizes the necessity of a space – physical, but also metaphysical and conceptual – in which each student can bring his or her position to the next level.

The exhibition you are about to explore is the culmination of two focused years during which each artist has developed his or her practice, improved its articulation and pushed its limits. Through a very unique format – both a group show including 20 artists and a series of 20 separate solo presentations – the 2017 MFA Final Show aims at defining the next generation of artists working in Israel and beyond.
Furthermore it celebrates two years of two intense interactions between the students and the program faculty members: Dor Guez, Michal Helfman, Yitzhak Livneh, Dudu Mezach, Moshe Ninio, Eli Petel, Gilad Ratman, Ruti Sela, Yehudit Sasportas, Gil Marco Shani, Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Sharon Yaari, and Nevet Yitzhak, who I invited to co-curate the exhibition with me.

Nicola Trezzi, head of the MFA program and co-curator of the 2017 MFA Final Show.
The 2017 Show is supported by the friends of the MFA: Rivka Saker and Uzi Zucker, Candida and Zak Gertler, Mati Broudo, Nancy Berman, Andrea Meislin, Gil Brandes, Nathalie Cohen, Peter and Adrienne Biberstein
