Bezalel 2010: Graduates Exhibition
Sprecher Michal, Under-Dressed (3), 2010, Fourth Year, Jewelry & Fashion
The fascinating relationship between the naked body and the clothes that cover it is examined in this collection, which demonstrates the way clothing reconstructs and defines the theoretical concept of nakedness and its actual nature. Six models-for women and men- imply the nakedness lurking beneath typically ‘civilized’ appearances. The interplay of nakedness and clothing is manifested in typical cuts and materials used for intimate underclothes which were used to create regular garments meant to be worn in public. The designs mark the boundaries between the body and its surrounding environment. These articles may allow the viewer to see the naked body beneath the clothes through open gaps that suggest the sensation of touching the naked body.
