naive lampshade
Naive shade Today's growing concern about environmental issues such as global warming, has sketched one of the main guidelines of today's design ethics- an aspiration for "green design". A significant change has occurred in the lightning field, as eco-friendly lightning (compact fluorescent lamps- cfl) became highly consumed. The naïve lampshade is porcelain made. It is designed using the esthetics of an old school lampshade and a basic bulb. As a designer living in a fast pace world, i miss the basic objects that i grew up with, the icons which are no longer relevant nowadays. By creating the naïve lampshade i created an object which mediates between the necessary of an eco friendly bulb and the initial naïve lampshade that is a nostalgic and authentic item. The porcelain made lampshade has a mountains pattern on it. The pattern is also an important part of the structure that helps keeping the porcelain from getting distorted. The lampshades are made of casted porcelain, while the pattern was made by dividing the plaster mould into about 14 parts. photos by svetlana yorchenko and liran fisher
