Solid
What inspires me – is the material of glass in its original state. Glass is born in flames, a liquid that prompts the artist to be in a constant movement. When it cools down is like time stops. Glass’ similarity to ice makes me feel that a moment in time eternalizes itself there. Therefore, glass epitomizes mass for me. What startles me as an artist is a realization that I am a creator of this imprint of time. That’s why the process for me always starts in the primordial – a hot shop. There, in the process, first shadows of the shape originate. This desire to partake in the process of solidification of this frozen moment pushes me forward. I was eager to control the process more than what is allowed by its natural transition into solid state. Desire to work with glass directly; feel that I am changing it prompted me into keeping on changing it in its cold state. Hence, the shaping and design mainly occur in a cold shop. Miraculous characteristics of transparent and pure glass as material and the desire to accompany the process throughout are the touchstones of my creations. The focus on glass sculpting created the merge of concept and technique. The organic shapes of the pieces accentuate the texture giving it an extra value. My desire to show my love for glass is in inviting the spectator and making one want to touch it that is not typical and doesn’t go without saying. The texture created on the surface of the objects transforms ‘cold,’ smooth and shiny, - natural qualities of glass, into ´hot´, pleasant and curious to touch. Clean and transparent cut reveals and highlights textual and shape organics of glass mass and gives birth to a new visual experience. The boundaries between the glass and its surroundings disappear and we begin to see that material from within and the wide cuts divide not the glass but its inner space. The glass for me doesn´t serve as a material for design. Design turns the glass in matter in itself. Considering there isn't any legacy
