Call for Papers for Issue 29, Fall 2013, of the E-Journal History and Theory: the Protocols – “Quiet Please: On Silences and Acts of Silencing”

More Info, Subject list Etc.

Silences are an essential component of psychoanalysis and conjugal and intergenerational dynamics, as they are of thinking and creative processes. There is no doubt that silence can express power and create an experience of violence, alienation and aloofness. This is the nature of deafening silences. At the same time, silence can bring together and even has something of intimacy about it. Alternatively, silencing can be a forceful act that is forced on a person or a group in the name of cultural conventions, social discourse and political control. The different aspects of the concepts of silence and silencing are at the center of issue 29, fall 2013, of the E-Journal History and Theory: the Protocols – “Quiet Please: On Silences and Acts of Silencing”. In this issue we wish to deal with the contemporary discourse about silence and silencing and examine complex issues and dynamics in the fields of art, design, architecture, film and visual culture, literature and music, history and religion, sociology and psychology. We hereby invite researchers, thinkers, authors and artists to propose academic articles, essays, reviews, portfolios and virtual exhibitions for publication in this issue. Deadline: August 1st 2013. The Journal receives materials in both Hebrew and/or English.
