Urban Action / Research

The Seminar deals with present and future challenges in urban space and questions the relations between design processes and the political and social realm. The seminar offers integrated learning strategies in which the research functions as a platform for urban action, while at the same time, the design act serves as a tool for research. In the class meetings, we discuss ethical and aesthetical questions concerning the meaning of activism in Art and Design and get familiar with the critical discourse around those topics and relevant concepts as The Right to the city, Civil act, Social design, Urban Action and more. The work in this seminar combines practice and theory. During the year the students are developing urban interventions and research processes either in groups or individually. The written seminar is related to the interventions and is based on relevant theoretical and academic background
