The theme of art in the public space consists of a few aspects and paradoxes. On one hand it is the type of art that was popular along many periods in history, and on the other hand it is perceived mainly as an ornament and decoration of the public space. In recent years, among other things, there is a return to dealing with this issue, out of a social context as well as a part of the concept seeking to connect the world of art with the general public. In the course we intend to deal with the topic and discuss various phenomenon. We will raise questions regarding characteristics, selection processes, subcategories, visibility and concealment, vandalizing, documentation and more. We will get familiar with concepts such as land art, roadside art, art of memory, frescoes, graffiti etc. In addition, we will examine what is happening in Israel, both in the field of decision-making and in the field of documentation.
