Course Day

Time 9:00 - 13:00
The course consists of theoretical lectures and practical lessons in the “Unreal Engine” software. We will examine the practical and theoretical implications of CGI in the art world and explore the ways that video, narrative and criticality are manifested through this medium. During the course, we will probe into the connections and contradictions between conventional photography and CGI through the study of selected contemporary video and photography works. We will practically and theoretically experience alternative options to the production of images while viewing and discussing contemporary art as it is formed under those same mechanisms. The course is built as a platform for discussion on the nature of photography and its possible transformations through the use of CGI and other systems for the creation of computer-generated photographic images. At the end of the course, participants will be required to submit individual final projects based on advanced CGI technology.
