Time 10:00 - 11:30

In this intensive and eye-opening workshop students will acquaint themselves with two main genres of Culture Criticism, namely the Essay and the Review. Students will be trained to write reviews on culture products (books, plays, films, art shows) and essays on culture phenomena (consumer trends, social norms, mainstream language and fashion etc.). The question mark will be our main tool. Questioning authority and questioning that which is taken for granted is the task at hand. Inspiration for writing will come from reading a selection of great works by essayists and culture critics such as Virginia Woolf, Adrianne Rich, Naomi Klein, Naomi Woolf, Henry David Thoreau - to name but a few.
