Industrial Design (B. Des)

Texperience is a hands-on class for researching and practicing digital technology in product design. In this course students will use technology as raw material and will learn and practice Physical Computing. The course goal is for students to adapt skills of prototyping with technology by understanding logic and computational thinking, to build the foundation of physical interactive design and to learn to communicate their ideas with technology-professionals. We will make, form, and shape the medium of interaction which goes beyond familiar digital interfaces. The platforms in used are such as microcontrollers, a single-chip computer that fits in one hand. Students will learn to code, to connect electronics and work with sensors to create interactive spaces and objects. Via weekly assignments as well as the final project students will develop the skills to work, think and practice Making Thinking: hacking and reusing systems, design and create new systems to solve a problem or define a new one.
