Car Design

For over 100 years, the car is central to our life

The car represents a crossroad of disciplines spanning from styling through user’s research to fashion.

In recent years, significant transformation in the very definition of the car has been taking place.

These transformations are driven by cultural, ecological, economic and technological challenges. The role of the car in our daily lives is therefore going to change significantly.

Through the semester, each student will pursue a personal vision of what the car means, as specific term and in the broader context of means of transportation.

Through the creation of the vision, we shall deliberately expand the boundaries of imagery and associations used as references for the determining the layout form and the shape of the car.

The course would provide practicing the methodologies of designing a car.  A process of brainstorming, definition, creation and visualization will take place to realize each student’s vision.

This year will expand the range of approaches used for the design of a car.

The course will be an opportunity to acquire knowledge regarding the technology behind the car, the car culture, and the evolving of the car through the years.
