Contemporary Art and Society

This course will discuss the relationship between contemporary art and social issues. We will survey different critical theories on the subject, and study artists whose work centers on subjects of ecology, global crisis, refugees, gender, social status, nationality and more. The theoretical approaches will be learned through examples from modern and contemporary art.
