Copyright and Designs Law

The course will address basic principles in copyright law and registered design law for artistic works and industrial designs. The course will review the protection accorded to specific classes of works and for non-traditional works. The course will discuss the exclusive rights accorded to copyright owners and infringement of copyright and design law as well as permitted uses (such as parodies and other fair uses). Also covered will be international protection available for foreign works and designs and for works of Israeli origin. Finally, the course reviews commercial dealings in copyright works (such as merchandising).
