Throughout the course we will examine how designers like Gabriel (Coco) Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent have influenced popular culture and modern wardrobe, discuss the connection between fashion and subcultures like Mod and Punk, follow independent designers that have been opposition to the mainstream fashion, and find how fashion’s corporations control the way we consume fashion, trends and fashion communication.
