Digital Tools For Designers The aim of this course is to serve as a springboard for the world of design, modeling and manufacturing using computer software. Students will acquire the tools, the knowledge and the confidence to develop as independent creators in a world where the digital and the physical dimensions are closer than ever. During the first semester, we will learn the basics of working in a 3d program (in "Fusion 360"). This software offers a flexible environment where object can be manipulated in both parametric and direct modeling techniques. In the second semester will be focusing on advanced techniques and experience the transition between the digital and physical world. We will learn advanced techniques to create models based on sketches / background images. We will work with 3D scanning of a physical model and inserting it into the digital world. We will prepare files for laser cutting and CNC. We will familiarize ourselves with the world of printing in 3D printers and print our own parts. We will also learn to work with Rhino software and other digital tools.
