Asaf Ben-Zvi

Asaf Ben Zvi's artistic repertoire includes a variety of fields: painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing. His work excels in conciseness and poetic precision. His imagery is heavily inspired by poetry, literature and music. Ben Zvi's knowledge of European culture is interwoven with his deep familiarity with Israel's local landscape, birds and vegetation. Born in Kfar Yehezkel in 1953. In the early 1980s he studied in the Bezalel Academy's department of fine art. During his studies, he attended an advanced program in the Pratt Institute in New York. Presents his works in solo exhibitions from 1986. Received the Rappaport Prize for an Established Israeli Artist from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art in 2011, where he presented the solo exhibition "forgetting almost everything" in 2012. Received the Jacob Pins Prize for an Israeli Graphic Artist for 2019-2020 from the Israel Museum. Lives and works in Jerusalem. Teaches drawing in the Bezalel Academy.
