The concept of "modernism" in the arts constitutes a creative thinking that has broken traditional conventions on the background of the revolutionary changes that took place in Western society during the 19th and 20th centuries. This course presents the phenomenon of "modernism" in its main characteristics and aspects expressed in basic terms, for example "art for its own sake", "total work of art", or "avant-garde art", and in value issues reflected in the formation of new interactions between art, society and politics. In the result, modern art aspired not only to reflect, but also to change social reality.
