Thoughts on the Clothed Body: Guided Reading

The course will take place in a guided reading format, during which six to eight short texts will be read in class during lessons, which together will provide a glimpse into the areas of thought and reflection concerning the clothed body today. We will take an investigative look at what is often neglected in academic discourse, be it Crocs flip-flops, Tank top and tights etc. The tape measure, the 'basic' cut, and the technology of industrial knitting - tools and working methodologies of the fashion world - will also be re-examined within the framework of a historical, cultural, and social discourse.
