Timeless Gestures: A Unique Partnership Between Bezalel UK and Rome’s Antichità Alberto Di Castro Gallery showcasing six Bezalel alumni

In a unique collaboration between Bezalel UK and Rome’s Antichità Alberto Di Castro Gallery, the Exhibition ״Timeless Gestures״ opened on June 18th, in the presence of Bezalel President Prof. Adi Stern, Bezalel UK Co-Chair Lawrence Salem and distinguished leaders from Rome’s Jewish and philanthropic community. This marks Bezalel’s first ever exhibition in recent years in the historical city.

Co-curated by Jennifer Busnelli of Bezalel UK and Denise Di Castro, the featured artists - Adi Toch, Tamar de Vries Winter, Vered Kaminski, Naama Haneman, Yasmin Zehavi, and Naama Altalef Blau - represent several generations of Bezalel alumni whose practices demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship in precious materials, including silver, gold, and enamel. The exhibition marks the fourth program of The Contemporary Wall at Di Castro, placing contemporary work alongside the Gallery’s historic Judaica and jewellery artefacts. The show creates a compelling dialogue between tradition and innovation, a principle that also guides Bezalel Academy in its teaching and learning for over 120 years.

Following the Exhibition opening Bezalel UK Co-Chair Lawrence Salem hosted a celebratory dinner to mark this momentous occasion, strengthening the new bond being created between the two legacy institutions. 

A portion of the proceeds from the Gallery’s artwork sales will be earmarked to support Bezalel Academy’s students financially, academically and emotionally - empowering the next generation of artists and designers emerging from Jerusalem.
