"When does my bus leave? Where is the new train station? I have a birthday the day after tomorrow - how long is it? How will I know when the cake is ready? How will I know how to get to my workplace? When does the holiday end? And where is Bezalel, anyway? Where do I feel at home? Is belonging connected to a place or to people?"

When is this time, where is this place? is a hands-on practical course that aims to bring together students from Bezalel and people with mental, physical and sensory disabilities in order to allow discussion and to enable accessibility to the concepts of time and space, emotions, belonging, joy, and sadness.

The encounters and work done in the course will enable learning and use of visual tools and skills within the fields of art, design and architecture to increase  independence, security, mobility and improve the daily life of people with disabilities, and create a shared meaningful experience and empowerment for all participants in the course while practising creative methods in constant dialogue.

This is a social project with meaningful and direct impact on a group of adults with special needs. Participation requires commitment to the process and consistent, active attendance.

Upon completion of the course, students may receive an additional 2 credits for social involvement. The course is open to male and female students from all departments in their 3rd and 4th years.

Supported by the Keren Shalem Foundation, this course offers a unique opportunity to be part of an inclusive project that encourages the integration of people with disabilities into academic institutions focused on art and design. As part of the course, the process and outcomes will be presented in a funded exhibition, website, or film - as decided collectively by the participants.
