Dafna Barkai

A multidisciplinary fashion and costume designer, researcher of innovation and technology in design, and lecturer at Bezalel Academy in the Department of Jewelry and Fashion.

Holds an M.Des in Multidisciplinary Design from Shenkar College (2016) and a BFA in Jewelry and Fashion from Bezalel Academy (2007). Active as a designer since 2007, she runs an independent studio integrating fashion, accessories, and costumes for stage and music. She exhibits internationally and collaborates with leading cultural institutions, artists and musicians in Israel.

Her research focuses on innovation in textiles and wearable technologies, examining how technology and smart textiles influence fashion practices, the designer's role, and human-object relationships. Through various disciplines, she explores the intersections between materiality and technological innovation, and how research-based creative practices expand the boundaries of creation and personal expression.
