This elective course offers industrial design students an introduction to architectural thinking through the exploration of small-scale spaces and the experiences they create.

The course examines the relationship between people and the environments they inhabit. We will explore how functions, architectural elements, materials, light, proportion, openings, and objects shape our perception of space and influence the way we feel, move, and interact within it.

Through a series of short design exercises, students will experiment with architectural concepts at an intimate scale, exploring the dynamic relationships between body, object, and space.

The goal of the studio is not to train architects, but to broaden the designer’s field of vision—offering new ways of thinking about objects through the spatial, experiential, and cultural contexts in which they exist.
