Form and Content: Visual, Material, and Human Research in the Territories of Design
The aim of the course is to develop personal and professional knowledge through investigative toolkits that complement the departmental knowledge of the various disciplines, serving as an additional layer that enables designers to think about design as a process that generates action, objects, and environments.
The learning process focuses on the development and investigation of a self-selected personal project. The investigation includes tools for processing popular and professional materials, visual media (images, stills, films, blogs, Instagram, Facebook, etc.), audio materials, academic sources, and other relevant materials.
The final assignment for Semester A is a "Momentary Exhibition," which presents the independent investigation both visually and textually, based on the guidance and direction developed throughout the semester.
Semester B focuses on the development of the personal projects through toolkits specifically tailored to each individual topic.
The final assignment for the proseminar consists of two parts:
- A visual presentation documenting the different stages of the work.
- A written paper that articulates the personal topic in textual form.
The guiding premise is that an understanding of the design process reveals the dialogue and dynamic interplay between environmental, social, and political knowledge and the worlds of design and art.
