This course will survey the history of Western architecture from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century. Architectural development will be studied in chronological order, focusing on central architects and buildings in each period, and highlighting the stylistic changes and influences. The course will take a broad cultural-historical approach, reading architectural history in light of religious, social and cultural conditions.
