Launch Pad

This course focuses on the transition from academic studies to professional practice. It combines personal reflection on each student's aspirations, intentions, and plans for the future with a broader exploration of the profession, its evolving boundaries, and the opportunities available to industrial designers at the beginning of their careers.

The course spans the third and fourth years of the program.

In the third year, four sessions are held during the second semester, focusing on portfolio development in preparation for entering the professional world and on preparing for the internship program.

The internship program takes place during the summer break between the third and fourth years and is conducted in design studios, companies, and organizations.

Attendance at all four sessions is mandatory and is a prerequisite for enrollment in the internship program.

In the fourth year, approximately ten sessions address the following topics:

• Exploring the diverse professional pathways available to industrial designers, alongside discussions on the changing landscape of industry and the evolving role of the designer.
• Meetings with department alumni, designers, and industry professionals who present case studies drawn from their personal and professional experience.
• Individual work on defining professional goals and building a foundation for a professional profile, including identifying strengths and areas for development, developing self-presentation skills, further refining the portfolio, and preparing a résumé/CV.
• Acquiring practical tools for professional practice, including project pricing, proposal writing, self-marketing, and professional development.
• Developing strategies for addressing challenges throughout a professional career, including decision-making, coping with success and failure, and navigating changes in one's professional path.

The course is a mandatory requirement for all students in the Industrial Design program
