Guest Lecture: Adam Harvey
'From 1 to 100 Pixel' is a workshop taken as part of the Master’s Program in Visual Communication, that explores the world of computer vision, image datasets, and facial recognition. Beginning with the smallest unit of visual information, 1 pixel, we will navigate the emerging world of optical machines. Participants will learn how computer vision algorithms work, where training datasets originate, and how your social media posts have played a large role in building face recognition. The workshop will discuss prior work and research from the megapixels.cc and cvdazzle.com projects and discuss artistic strategies for adapting to, critiquing, and living in a world of total surveillance.
