Atalier | New exhibition opening at Bezalel Gallery for Contemporary Art

Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem is delighted to invited you to the opening of a new exhibition at Bezalel Gallery for Contemporary Art.

Like the inaugural exhibition at the gallery Body-Tensioned Loom, the second exhibition in the cycle, Atelier, also explores textile from a local and political perspective. Using direct and indirect photographic tools, and employing various optical and digital interventions, the featured artists produce repetitive patterns and designs related to the image production procedure.

One central principle that guides the activity of the gallery draws on the belief that artists’ activity is not separate from the world, but rather is always influenced by the intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of their time and place. This outlook gains added relevance in light of the gallery’s unique location on 119 Herzl Street, which used to serve as a sewing atelier, and the gallery’s exhibition and activity program.
