Announce the award in the field of art to the Israeli artist Ester Schneider

Ester Schneider (38) was born in Moscow and immigrated to Israel with her family. She received her B.Des. Degree in Visual Communications and her M.F.A. from Bezalel.

She has held a solo exhibition at the Inga Gallery of Contemporary Art and has taken part in numerous group exhibitions, including the Petah Tikva Museum of Art, Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Noga Gallery of Contemporary Art and the University Art Gallery and participated in Fresh Paint, Contemporary Art & Design Fair, Tel Aviv 2013. Among other prizes, she has won the Young Artist Award for 2011, the Shmuel Givon Prize of the Givon Gallery and Tel Aviv Museum in 2012 and her works can be found in private collections in Israel and abroad.

In her works, Schneider searches subversive syntax between the iconographic element with plastic and material, and admits that she is influenced by different cultural fields, Jewish mysticism, Russian Constructivism, Persian miniatures, and of course Israeli art. Her works combine through various motifs the hybridization of cultural fields and different and contrasting historical fields in which she deals with.

The purpose of the prize is the encouragement and promotion of artists, graduates of Bezalel Academy, in the memory of Ilana Elovic. The award in the amount of $ 7,000 will be awarded to the winner Ester Schneider in November 2016. The right for eligibility is only for Bezalel graduates up to 7 years since their graduation and who have been active in the field of creativity and art, and with a rich portfolio in the field. 91 graduates applied for the prize.

The award ceremony and the winner's lecture will be held in November 2016, on Ilana Elovic's Memorial Day, in the presence of the Elovic family, the President of Bezalel Academy and the Judging Committee.
