The Sustainability Incubator

How do we address an urban problem that everyone encounters daily, yet almost no one wants to touch?  This year, the Sustainability Incubator will collaborate with the Strategy Department of the Jerusalem Municipality on the city’s new Waste Master Plan. Taking waste as one of urban life’s most urgent and unpleasant challenges, we will examine it as a system that links infrastructure, economics, policy, behaviour, municipal services, and everyday culture.

Students will apply advanced methods for tackling complex sustainability problems, including systems thinking, field research, stakeholder mapping, barrier analysis, service design, and practical intervention development. Working with a real municipal challenge, they will develop ideas and tools with the potential to support tangible change in Jerusalem.
