Open Call for Positions in the Horizon Europe Project 'Engage2Innovate'

The Bezalel team is looking to fill several positions within the Engage2Innovate (E2i) project, running from 2023 to 2026. This project is dedicated to enhancing security solution design, adoption, and impact by employing effective engagement strategies and social innovation methodologies.

The core focus of E2i revolves around amplifying the influence of European security research by embracing transdisciplinary human-centered design principles. E2i's primary objective is to actively involve the next generation of researchers and design thinkers in international Social Innovation Design Challenges to promote innovative and impactful solutions. We are looking for candidates who share our passion for social innovation and appreciate the pivotal role of designers in crafting solutions deeply rooted in a comprehensive understanding of end-user contexts.

These positions are integral parts of a dynamic team spearheaded by Eran Lederman, Dr. Elad Persov, Dr. Romi Mikulinsky, and Prof. Mike Turner. Working within this team presents a unique opportunity to engage in high-impact research geared toward addressing pressing societal challenges alongside diverse stakeholders.

Detailed job descriptions:
  • Positions are open to Bezalel’s students, faculty and graduates.
  • Salaries will be paid in accordance with the scale offered by Bezalel and the candidate's background.

1. Researcher

Job Description: The responsibilities include conducting comprehensive literature reviews, field research, data analysis, and mapping. This position also involves report writing and providing support to partner institutions involved in the research. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating the publication of articles and the establishment of an international research network.

This position is open to Lecturers, Graduate students or alumni of a Master's degree at Bezalel (Doctorate is an advantage). An optional scholarship can be given to Graduate Students.

Job Duration: Up to 12 months starting in January 2024.

Skills required:

  • Fluency in English is necessary, as the work involves extensive reading, writing, and communication in English.
  • Experience in qualitative research.
  • Advantageous skills in quantitative research, including statistical analysis with SPSS or equivalent.
  • Advantageous experience in conducting multinational research projects.
  • Ability to manage a team of research assistants.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and adhere to schedules is a critical skill required for this role.

2. Assistant Researcher

Job Description: Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive literature reviews focused on innovation and social design, engaging in field research involving interviews with senior decision-makers, mapping current practices within the European Union, and characterizing potential areas for future research. Following data collection, the role shifts toward analyzing findings and submitting a summary report. These tasks will be conducted with a senior researcher and will contribute to the project's success and generate valuable insights into innovation and social design.

Job Duration: 1 - 2 years depending on the assignment, from November 2023. Approximately ten hours a week, with varying workloads.

Skills required:

  • Fluency in English is necessary, as the work involves extensive reading, writing, and communication in English.
  • Experience in qualitative research.
  • Ability to facilitate a wide variety of tasks.
  • Design and structure of research presentations.

3. Producer

Job Description: The role involves coordination between the project partners in Israel, England, Portugal, and Germany. The producer will work with design teams across Europe, draft design briefs, and lead quality control and review processes.

Job Duration: 6 months alternately throughout the academic year, with possible extension for another year.

Skills required:

  • Fluency in English is necessary, as the work involves extensive reading, writing, and communication in English.
  • High communication skills.
  • Organization and information management skills.
  • Independence in performing tasks.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Suite programs, specifically InDesign/ Illustrator/Photoshop.

4. Project Administrative Coordinator

Job Description: Administrative coordinator’s responsibilities include schedule management, meetings coordination, project budget management, internal reporting and procurement, and submission of budget reports. This position requires ongoing connection with the project coordinators in Portugal. 

Job Duration: 2 years starting in October 2023 until October 2025. 40 monthly hours.

Skills required:

  • Fluency in English is necessary, as the work involves extensive reading, writing, and communication in English
  • Experience in managing a budget
  • Experience in personnel management
