Dear Bezalel Community,

We are thinking of you and hope that you and your loved ones are safe and protected. We know you are facing challenging and complex times, and we understand that returning to learning and teaching is not something to be taken for granted right now.

Start of the Semester
As we announced last week, the semester will begin on March 22, 2026, with remote instruction. The schedule for the first week will be redesigned to fit the learning format and the realities of the situation.

It is important to clarify: due to the unique nature of studies at Bezalel, some courses cannot be taught online without access to workshops and equipment. These courses will therefore begin once in-person learning on campus resumes.

We are aware of the personal challenges some lecturers and students are facing during this period, and the curriculum has been designed with these constraints in mind.

For students who have been called up for reserve duty and for those dealing with personal difficulties, the program has been built with you in mind, and we are committed to ensuring you can properly complete your studies. Please do not hesitate to contact your department coordinators or the Dean of Students’ office for any kind of assistance.

The updated schedule will be distributed by the departments and academic programs.

Make-Up Exams (“Moed Beit”) – Department of Visual and Material Culture
Between March 29–31.3.26, make-up exams for first semester courses will take place. The exams will be held online or as take-home exams. The full schedule is updated on Orbit Live.

Access to Campuses
For now, in accordance with Home Front Command guidelines, the campuses remain closed to academic activity. We are monitoring the situation continuously, and if there are changes to the guidelines in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, we will work to reopen the workshops and personal studios.

Update to the Academic Calendar
Due to the change in the semester start date, adjustments will be made to the academic calendar. A new calendar will be determined after the Passover holiday, in accordance with updated Home Front Command guidelines.

The Bezalel community is a source of strength and hope. Art, design, creativity, and learning allow us to ask questions, process emotional experiences, give meaning, resist, and work toward change. We long for the end of the war, for your return to campus, and for the continuation of our shared creative work.

Take care of yourselves and look after those close to you.
